KUALA LUMPUR: Two areas in Peninsular Malaysia recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings nearing unhealthy levels as of 11am today.
Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan and Johan Setia in Selangor registered API readings of 99 and 97, respectively, nearing the unhealthy threshold.
According to the Environment Department’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), both locations remained within the moderate range of 51 to 100 but are close to breaching the unhealthy level, which begins at 101.
Cheras in Kuala Lumpur recorded the third-highest API at 93, followed by Sungai Petani (85), Kota Bharu (83) and Banting (80).
Meanwhile, a total of 40 monitoring stations nationwide recorded moderate API readings, while seven other areas recorded readings within the good range of 0 to 50.
No areas reported unhealthy air quality.
